Barbering Certificate

Program Description

The Barbering program teaches students any one or combination of the following practices when done upon the upper part of the human body for cosmetic purposes and not for the treatment of disease or physical or mental ailments and when done for payment for the public generally to include: Shaving or trimming the beard; cutting the hair; giving facial or scalp massage or treatment with oils, creams, or lotions, or other chemical preparations, either by hand or with mechanical appliances; chemically changing the texture of the hair; coloring or lightening the hair or applying hair tonic; applying cosmetic preparations, antiseptics, powders, oils, clays, or lotions to the scalp, face, neck, or shoulders.

The Barbering program has a selective admissions process. The program application and requirements are available at Pueblo Community College Cosmetology from Now to June 1 (check with department if after June 1 ). All Health & Public Safety programs have essential functions to help you be successful in the program and career.

Note: You must undergo a background check and drug screen before we can officially admit you into the program. Not meeting the criteria specific to the Barbering program may prohibit entrance into the program and/or eligibility to sit for licensure exams.

Apply to Cosmetology program by June 1

(If after June 1 contact the department chair for application)

Once you have applied and been accepted to the barbering program, you will be registered by the department into the courses listed below per semester.

All Barbering core courses require program admission.
