General Education Foundational Skills Credential

See list of Department Chairs on the Personnel  page.

Description

The General education Foundational Skills Credential is a stackable credential designed for students who plan to complete a two-year Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree and transfer to a four-year institution. By completing the General Education Foundational Skills Credential, students will have met the Colorado Department of Higher Education General Education Curriculum. The General Education Foundational Skills Credential is not a stand-alone certificate; only stackable when pursuing an Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, or an Associate of General Studies degree.

The certificate is not eligible for financial aid as a standalone certificate.

Admission requirements:

  • Admission to Pueblo Community College
  • Must be concurrently registered in an Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, or an Associate of General Studies degree

The General Education Foundational Skills Credential recognizes students as they complete the state’s 31-credit general education curriculum (GT Pathways). The credential provides the essential skills and competencies students gain through general education as they work toward completing their degree. These skills are highly sought after by employers and were built on employer feedback. They provide a mechanism for students to communicate their skills to potential employers, and include:

  • Written communication
  • Quantitative literacy
  • Problem solving
  • Inquiry and analysis
  • Critical thinking

How to Get the Credential
